They make lots of sense. They have shown me things in the Bible that I have never heard preached before or preached in such a different way than I have ever heard. I can't find any churches around here like the ones that these guys pastor. Are Lutherans the only ones who teach the Gospel? That can't be so, but I sure can't find anyone else right now. We have left our previous church and are now attending a Calvary Chapel that some other friends are going to, it is slightly different than the previous but not what I'm looking for either.

Garden

Want bigger land but don't seem to be able to do that. Is is a Holy thing consisting of special bread and special wine that represents or even becomes the body and blood of Jesus?

I have heard the scriptures taught to say both ways. I have not done in depth study, but it seems even when people have they come out of it with whatever it was they presupposed the answer to be.

I know the Lords supper recorded in scripture was the passover meal. It consisted of more than just bread and wine. When Jesus said, "as often as you do this, do it in remembrance of me" did He mean as often as you celebrate passover? Did He mean as often as you eat food together as believers? Did He mean as often as you share this ceremonially special piece of bread and wine?

I would love to know the real answer to this question, but I'm not sure if anyone knows it. Maybe we should do it all.

Maybe we should remember that Jesus is the true passover lamb as we celebrate the passover annually. Maybe we should remember His blood and body every time we gather as believers for a meal. Maybe we should remember Him during the ceremony with the special bread and special wine whenever we do that.

I would guess that the one that makes the least sense would be the special bread and wine celebration. Yet, that seems to be the one that is mostly taking place within the christian body, Protestant and Catholic.

Makes me wonder still....

Palin

You know why everyone likes to make fun of Sarah Palin? Because she is an example of the majority of Americans who get up in the morning and go to work to provide for there family, and raise there kids the best way they know how. We don't care that much about all the rest of the crap that people like McCain and Obama and Biden do because we are busy trying to get by. This is also the reason people get away with making fun of her because we are just those little people that don't make a fus, we just get things done and keep this country going. We don't expect anything from our government except to leave us alone and allow the Military to do there job protecting the sovereignty of this great country, which we love rather than hate by the way. She represents people who have the audacity to think that a human life is worth whatever it takes to care for and keep alive and healthy, regardless of how inconvenienced we may be by it. She is just one of us who has fought her way through the politicians, lawyers, sexism and disdain that the elite of this country has for the people who accually work to make it a better place. I'm sad the see the way people have been treating her. She is our Mr. Smith. I hope that one way or another she will be Madam President Palin by 2012. Then maybe the people will have an advocate in the Whitehouse.

Question

Should a Christian pastor encourage people to pray to there demonic gods? If what we believe is true, the Bible says that the false gods of the world are powered by demons, fallen angels, whatever you want to call them. So, when a Christian person, pastor or not, is in a multi religious setting, leading a prayer is it appropriate to encourage the people to pray to there demon gods?

I have noticed this happening a lot lately. I know some of these people may only be pretending to be a follower of Jesus but some I think are true believers and are swayed by the all inclusive, tolerance based society that the US has become. Opening prayers, closing prayers, joint prayers with Muslim Clerics, Buddhist Monks, Hindu leaders, Etc., it happens more frequently these days. Another point would be too, if you are praying joint, "ecumenical" prayers with these others, what god are you actually praying to? I know each of them would be quick to say that they are not praying to Jesus, the tri-une God. So why is it a problem for Christians to say I am not going to give the demon gods the same due and True God?

Just some thoughts...

Is the sky falling?

I noticed the last two weeks or so I haven't been freaking out about the presidential race and the state of the country like usual. It seems to have happened at the same time that everyone else is going nuts about the "economic crisis". I think it's funny that all of a sudden it doesn't bother me. I'm thinking God took that anxiety from me for a reason right when everyone else would freak. I still think it is a bad idea for the federal government to intervene in private business, but hey they don't seem to care what we think. I think something that has changed for me the last few weeks is that I realized, like very few American Christians have, that our God has been at work long before this country came to existence and will still be in control after it's gone. I don't know if this country will recover, become insignificant in the world or be conquered by another country. What I have decided is that it doesn't matter much to me, God sent pagan empires to conquer the chosen nation of Israel, why would we think that we are more protected than they were. I don't think these things matter much to God. He sees the big picture and the smallest details of His chosen ones all.
I have allowed myself to stress out and become distracted by the things this country has to offer. We need to realize that the USA is not Gods chosen nation, Jesus made His kingdom open to every nation and every person who is willing. We just happen to live here. It is a great place likely the greatest on the planet and it would be sad to see such a good thing end or diminish. If that is what God chooses to do, or more likely if it is what we allow to happen, then who are we to complain. The majority of Christians on the planet and throughout history have lived and dies outside of this country and it's privileges.
So if we really believe what we say we really believe then it shouldn't matter much if the stock market crashes, the mortgage companies go bankrupt, or get bought out by our new socialist government. None of that is our salvation, Jesus is our salvation and there is no substitute. I believe that the people who founded this great country knew the greatness of the Kingdom of God and they tried to set up a reflection of that Kingdom here. That ideal seems so long ago. Just like the Israelites of old, when enough generations pass, they start to forget where they came from, and who it was that brought them out of slavery and into the great land.
So, I'm not gonna stress out, I have my druthers but there are a lot of people in this land that want something different. That may all be part of the plan for all I know, so why worry.
If we really believe what we say we really believe it shouldn't be that big of a problem for anyone else either. Don't you think.

The Truth Project

I went to training this weekend for the Truth Project. It seems like it will be a great experience.
Some of the things that are presented in the curriculum are things that God has spoken to me in the last few months I think that is really cool when He does that, then confirms it through someone else like that.
The premise of the curriculum is that we have been and are bombarded by a world view contrary to the biblical view. So much so that most people who call themselves Christians don't think along the lines of what the Bible actually says. The church seems to have been conformed to the world. This is simply a systematic presentation of comparisons in worldview. Truth and Lies are pointed out in a clear manner. It is right up my ally. I hope everyone else feels the same way.
I am going to be leading a small group through this "study" as soon as we work out the details of time, place and such. I just found out about all this, this week. I got a call about leading a group, and getting trained to teach this curriculum all the same day. I spent all day Saturday at the church for the seminar then stayed for the weekend service afterwards. I got to hang out and talk to some people, it is very cool to actually be getting to know some other Christians, I would love to be able to have some believing friends that I could share some of my thoughts with and discuss things deeper. That would be great, I am hoping this all works out, and it seems to be so far.
I have been away from God for so long, ministry and Christians even longer, I didn't think I would enjoy going back so much.

Anglican

I was doing some searching and reading today about the Anglican church. What I found was a lot of very interesting stuff that I didn't know. This started by reading a post by the iMonk where he mentioned having a set of Anglican prayer beads. I did a search and then some more. I found that they don't recognize the Pope as there head, that I already knew. Surprising to me I found that they don't believe in purgatory, the immaculate conseption, transubstantiation, and they allow priests to marry. They have only two sacriments, the same two as protestants; Baptism and Communion. They consider Mary to be the highest of the saints but they don't require prayer to her, just respect. There seems to be a lot of variety and flexibility amongst different segment of Anglicanism.

One thing I wondered is, "If we have Anglicanism what is the real need for Protestantism?" I'm sure there would be a big list of reasons but I know my biggest problems with Catholism is the Mary as intorcessor, purgatory, transubstantiation, requiring celebacy for priests, and the whole Pope thing. There are others too, like priests as intercessors when Jesus is our intercessor and high priest, prayer to saints. That might be it.

Another question I was having today is; "If something like the Anglican church as it exists today is a good choice/option/compromise, Does the reason for it's existance matter in the decission?"

Even if it were found that it was the best option, does the fact that the reason that it exists is because the King needed a way to bypass the rules of the Pope so he could marry someone that he wasn't allowed to marry?

So if something good were to end up coming out of a sinful decision is the final thing to be judged according to what it is, or by the sinful act that resulted in the final existance?

Any input?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglican

My Church

My church is right now in an iffy place. It is kinda a smallish medium "mega church". The pastor is pretty good though about not wanting to do the "mega seeker church thing". He tries, but I think he is not the only one making decissions and sometimes some of that stuff slips through. He has made it clear lately to the church that he has recently decided that of the two ways to go, "Seeker/Mega" or Gods way, he is gonna go Gods way. I have accually been impressed and started bringing my Bible to church again cause we accaully use it now. He is trying to get people to "really" worship God, in community and not just clap and sing the words to songs. They are also right now prepping people to lead more small home groups, but this time as shepherds not facilitators. That should be good. I tend to lean more toward finding a roll in a church and work under someones authority than to just go out and start something new and unaccountable. I have been through that phase in my past, almost an entire church was destroyed through that endevour and I'm not sure how many of the people involved are still faithful to God. I know I wasn't for a few years and am now just getting back to him. At least He is always willing to take me back. I hope that I never leave Him again like that. Anyway, so my church is kinda in a middle place I like the direction that the pastor is pointing and I pray that God would continue to protect him against the ones who might want to put a stop to it and take us back the other direction. I think it would be cool to have a "mega church" that is full on in the right direction. Thats the way they do it in South Korea, so it can be done.

Mission Space

We went to Epcot this weekend. I havn't been there in at least 15 years. I went on the sissy version of mission space. It was totally fine, I'm thinking I might could do the real thing next time, I just want to get the DR. to say my heart is ok first, I like rides but none of them are worth accually dieing over. I think the flight simulator I did at Kennedy Space Center pulled more Gs than Mission Space but I want to make sure first. Other than that it was a cool trip, the park has changed a lot and I got lost at least 8 times. I remember there not being much to do there, we didn't even get to 85% of the park.

old, new, maybe

Are there really some people today who are just now figuring out the truth of christianity and the church? At least most of them and they say song of.... right in the title of most. According to the Bible translation notes in the front of a lot of Bibles it says that the propper name of God "YHWH" is translated as "LORD" or in some cases "GOD". Now my question came up when I noticed that "LORD" appears pretty frequently in the Psalms. Aren't songs sung? Havn't we also heard that the word "YHWH" was considered by Jews to be too holy to be spoken verbally? If this is the case what was done with this word when singing the Psalms/songs. I have never heard this discussed by anyone before. Since they would be reading and singing it in Hebrew they wouldn't use the word "LORD" like we do. Any input?

Lord or Savior?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_D43EhYnaI2E/SMPJobdJcXI/AAAAAAAAAEM/NEit7DEMT64/s200/Christ%2520suffering.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243256087591350642" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D43EhYnaI2E/SMPJooZ1gHI/AAAAAAAAAEU/NZFbEFeJVFQ/s200/JESUS20THE20WARRIOR20KING20ON20HORS.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243256091067121778" />
Or both? Well sober and on the first attempt. 10 beers and Kumba 6 times straight will do the same thing. Anyway this is a flight simulator at the Astronaut hall of Fame. It spins like a centrifuge at 4 g's. I think it had that affect on me because it was simulated and not the real thing. I have done those kind of g's on roller coasters and done the spins on carnival rides and such, but in those cases it was real. The wind was really in my face, I really was falling and flipping and spinning. In this case I was spinning but all I could see was a screen that showed that I wasn't spinning I was diving. The brain is a crazy thing that way it works sometimes. Otherwise the entire trip was fun, the place has grown since I went as a kid, there is a lot more to do now. With all the changes though they still believe that we successfully landed people on the moon and brought them back to earth with computers that had the power of a calculator or a cell phone maybe. crazy huh? I guess that is why Russia never made it, even though there space program was far ahead of ours.

Strange Mood

I am in a Strange mood latelly, I am torn constantly between bitterness and seeking More of God since I know I need too, I also don't seem to be able to sustain anything with Him lately. It used to be so easy. Everything is so hard now, waking up in the morning, getting up off the couch, going outside, working out. I wan't to do things, I just don't seem capable when it comes time. I let everyday waste by. All of my energy and focus ends up going to a job I hate and leaves me nothing for everything else. I want my old life back, I just don't think that is possible. Maybe even a new life that resembles my old life but only slightly different, like this time I can have beer.....

I just got a myspace page. I thought it was good, clearly not as good as the original nothing ever is but differing with most I did think it was better than the second and I didn't think it was too long or dull, my son and myself were entertained and never realized that much time had gone by. I didn't care too much for what happened to Will at the end but other than that it was good. I even thought Keith Richards did a good job though small. Just thought I would mention it since I didn't think Spiderman 3 sucked either.

I just downloaded the new White Stripes album today, so far it is nice, I was disapointed with the last one so I was leary but this one seems to be worth the risk. This is the first whole album I have gotten from itunes, I figured that since they just sit in the rack never to be touched again once I rip them, then should I really bother buying the cd? So, I gave it a shot.

I did end up downloading a single that I already have, is there anyway to delete the song and get my 99 cents back? Its not even a song that I like.

So, since we are loved and forgiven by Jesus because of His grace, we are allowed to be as bad as we want to be and so is everyone else? We are never allowed to tell anyone that something is bad because we are bad? I miss the old days when the Bible said it so we would try to do it and with the help of the Holy Spirit we could accomplish it, and sometimes we did, more and more often accually, and we were allowed to say, "God says" or "The Bible says" with confidence in the authority behind that statement. I havn't touched the computer all week, or my Ipod. Catching up on Podcasts is gonna take forever. I spent the week as summer camp with my son and a bunch of bad bad 8 year olds. Now is when I need the vacation. It was fun. Oh, I almost forgot, last weekend before the summer camp thing, we went camping with the cub scouts at Fort Wilderness at Disney World. Well it happened to be the same day as our first tropical storm so that was fun. We just stayed on the air matress in the middle of the tent and most of the water ran to the corners. It got to be only 2 inches deep or so.

The big surprise was when we went to the park. Does anyone know what weekend this was as the Magic Kingdom, I bet you do. It was quite fun, some of those red t shirts were quite entertaining. I couldn't help but think about Mini Me missing out on the parade I could have gotten a few choice shots with the folks in red. The boys didn't seem to notice anything, but we adults sure had fun with it. Some of my favorites...

"I'm not gay but my boyfriend is"

"I 'heart' booty"

this one had a little pirate on it.

There were two little old ladies wearing white T's with red marker writen on them that said,

"Red Shirt"

So, cute.

We rode space mountain, Pirates of the Carabean and then went over to MGM, It was also StarWars weekend, they had very few red shirts there. We got to see Chewy, Princess Leia, Luke, he had a bad wig, an Ewok; not Wiket, Anakin, He looked like the real one, a few of the alien type Jedi's, some clone's, and even the guy who was inside the original R2D2. We missed all the Sithe, since they were in a separate area of the park and I didn't know it till they all went away for the evening.

I have spent the rest of my time trying to watch the FireFly series, I got through the first two DVD's. A few nights I was just too tired. I also got to see Corpse Bride last night and Borne Identity monday, that is one of those that as a "christian" I wouldn't allow myself to watch when it came out but i'm over that now, so i'm catching up.

Got a lot of yard work to do, a trip or 2 to the dump, and then back to work monday, then I can finally rest.

Godzilla 2000

Guesse what i'm watching today? Godzilla 2000. I'm on vacation next week so I got a bunch of stuff to watch. It ought to be fun, i've been listening to Watch the Directors, so my need to see list keeps growing, I don't know if i'll be able to catch up. I also got the book by Tim Lahaye "the rapture" it is the 3rd prequel book to the original Left Behind series. I bring that up because I have heard comments on SBE and on etcetera about those books and the people who read them and they wern't possitive comments. I was wondering what it is that is wrong with them? I have read all of the Left Behind books and now these, I have a problem stopping when there are other books left to read, the same reason I watched Matrix 3 even though it sucked so so so bad. These books havn't sucked though, I have enjoyed them, though it does seem to be an excessive # of books to tell the story. Oh, I have seen the 3 movies too. I admit that when I started I was one of those who would only read christian books, watch christian movies and listen to christian music, and no video games at all. I'm not like that anymore but I still like some of them. The difference is now I also like to read Koontz, and watch Tarantino and all that "bad, bad" stuff. Does music get any better than Nine Inch Nails, well besides Michael Card?? I have an xbox now too, I love Halo...

I found this sight about 2001, it is pretty entertaining and give an explanation of the movie. I still don't understand any of it. The part in the middle about the trip to Jupiter and HAL going bonkers and trying to kill everyone and Dave shutting him down to survive, that part made since. The big black box makes no since, all that suff at the end is just nuts. What am I missing? I understand that it was made in 68 and the fx and all would have been stunning back then but other than that where is the greatness? No one seems to like Spiderman 3 yet I did, I admit that I didn't like all the time spent on PP and MaryJane and I totally didn't like the crybaby stuff, but I just shook my head and watched the rest of the movie. I liked having lots of villains it gave more to watch. Adding to this thought I watched Shawshank Redemption this weekend because I have always heard that it was good and I had never seen more than a few minutes of it. It was good, I totally enjoyed the movie and thought all of the actors did a great job and I totally liked the story. On the bonus DVD I found out that it was a Steven King Novella that was cool too, they mentioned that the movie has been voted as the best or near the best movie ever on the imdb along with The Godfather and Citizen Kane and a few others like that. I looked it up, it is right there at #2 after The Godfather. Now it has been a while since I have seen the Godfather but from what I remember it was a good movie but I don't' think it would make my top20 list. Star wars was on the list but way down closer to 10, what's with that? Signs was not anywhere on the list, The Princess Bride was down in the 100s. So what I draw from this is that apparently I don't know much about movies. THX1138 is another one that I saw in the last week, that movie was outstanding, I loved the vision that George Lucas had and he was trying to portray his current day, he thought it was bad then? Some people tell me it is just because my tastes are different, but why? Shouldn't I be able to tell a good movie from a bad one? I think Shawn of the dead sucked, but 28 days later was excellent. I am just a little weirded out to find that I am so out of the norm on something that I have such an interest in as movies. I don't have film or art training but I thought my opinions would at least line up a little with the rest of the world. With all of that said, I saw a Hallmark Entertainment version of Frankenstein, with William Hurt and Donald Southerland, yesterday, I loved it, totally different than any other depiction of Frankenstein that I have ever seen, the monster was really Victor and the creature wasn't a big dumb brute he was well read and quoted great works and only wanted to not be alone, buy the end I was glad to see Victor die and even then the creature cared for his body and carried it away with the love and respect of a son to a father even though the father never showed it to him. I want to read to book now because if it is like this version I believe I would thoroughly enjoy it.

Commandments

I am having a problem the last day or two with somethings I have read vs. what i am hearing. In the gospel of John i keep reading things like 15:14 "Your are My friends if you do what I command you." 14:23 "if anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him" 15:10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love." Then today i read 1st John 2:3-6 "By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, I have come to know HIm, and does not keep His commandments , is a liar and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked." 3:6 "No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him" 3:10 "By this the children of God and the dhildren of the devil are obvious; anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nore the one who does not love his brother." 3:22 "whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight."
That is not all of it, I am just trying to resolve the issue somehow that God loves us regardless but against these and other scriptures it seems to say that we have to keep "His commandments" which by the way are what? all i could find immediatly surrounding this was John 15:12-17 "This is My commandment that you love one another, just as I have loved you." so is this instead of the old commandments or on top of them or inclusive of them. My real point though is that I don't keep the old commandments or the new ones, does this according to these words from Jesus mean that I am not accepted, Loved or whatever you want to call it. I know i don't live righteously and i don't "love my brother" I trust Jesus and His sacrifice to pay the penalty for my sins but is that not enough? Is He not pleased with me since i don't live up to the commands that He has given, this seems to be teaching the opposite of what i hear from Steve Brown and Marc Driscoll and Greg Dumas and most bible teachers i have heard. i am lost and confused and wondering if i have any chance. i was just thinking.....

What do you do when you feel that you are called by God to be a pastor yet you don't want to do that? He makes you go to school and even after you turn from Him for a few years He still drags you back and gives you the same call. I know now that I am even less worthy and capable of such a duty than I was before but it still seems to be there, even when I hear Mark Driscoll's discription of what "ministry" is like, I still feel like that is what He wants, and I still don't want to do it. When I listen to pastors I think, I just plain don't know all that stuff, and I am not that good at comunicating anything. These guys are great, I listen to them daily and am dumbfounded. I read there books and think, "no way". But I can't not do what God tells me to do right? Steve Brown today was saying once again how much of a sinner he is and I feel the same way, only I know I am way more evil than Steve Brown. At one time I finally accepted the call and went to work to get prepared. I started theological school, I was doing youth ministry, I was teaching, I was learning, I even got to preach at my church twice when the pastor was on vacation, I was in tune with God. What was I thinking? I didn't know what I was doing, and now i'm just worse than that. So, what to do, I feel as though I could enter any profession but never be satisfied or fullfilled, until I am doing what God wants. Just a thought.....

Spiderman 3

I got in to see Spiderman 3 on opening day right before it was sold out for the night. That was 3 in the afternoon. I thought the movie was great, it was more than i expected. I liked that they spent less time introducing the villians than usual, a little time on sandman and no time on harry and really no time on Venom. The whole crybaby Parker thing bothered me, but i think he is supposed to be some sort of sissy wimp anyway and in this case they may have been trying to make an extreme differentiation between his sensitivity and caring before Venom and after. I still didn't like seeing him crying that much, or at all. Also i totally dug the "bad" Peter way cooler than the normal one, he actually kicked some tail and showed mary jane a thing or two as well. I never read any of the comic books so i'm not sure if they did the original justice or not, but i liked it.

Movie Review "Munich"

I really enjoyed this movie, I was an infant when it happened yet never heard of these events until I saw the movie. Very powerful, it was an inside look at the turmoil involved in the lives of the men chosen to retaliate to terrorism and the difficulty of engaging in similar tactics in fighting them. I was surprised to see that the events that surround us today are not really different from the world then, yet everyone seems to think this is something new. Apparently the facts of these events are not known only speculated based on a few factual bits of information so the movie is based on true events but purely speculation when it comes to the specifics of the men and there mission. Very well done, I thought I would watch the movie and like it, I didn't expect to be so moved by it. Great job Mr. Speilburg. Violence, blood, sex and nudity.

Movie Review "Kingdom of Heaven"

I was surprised at how much I loved this movie. I didn't even know who was in it before I saw them on the screen. It was very well done, I loved the story, the action, the scenic images. As far as I could tell from the DVD featurettes it was historically accurate at least the real historical characters that were portrayed. I had no idea of such events happening during the crusades. I also appreciated that it did not take the typical stand against the "evil crusading christians" that we allways here of nor did it portray the Muslims as evil. It portrayed honor among the knighthood, and the muslim warriors as well as the evil and treachery that existed in that world and this one. I am sure the subject of the movie is what kept people from seeing it in the theater but it was well worth the viewing, I learned a lot and was entertained in the process. Lots of blood and violence there may have been some nudity as well.

Emerging Church

I recently read a blog regarding John MacArthers new book and the Emerging Church. I know little about this Emerging Church thing, I am curious to find out what it is all about. I have been out of the Church world for a few years and am just getting back in and finding that some things have changed in the mean time. My new church seems to be very accuarate and applicable. It is hard for me to imagine that people would call something God's church without holding up His Word as truth, but it happens.

I'm figuring some of this out

I Got some links up, I noticed that i have no other posts so no one is reading this but me. oh, well.

I don't really know how all this works yet, but i'm sure I will figure it out eventually.
